format4 app for iPhone and iPad

The experimental audio-visual app Format4 is an extension of FOO/SKOU’s interactive sound installation Disharmony of Spheres.

Disharmony of Spheres consists of 81 singing spheres inspired by our solar system, crafted from ceramics. Object design, texture, melody sequences and sound design is based on the planets rotation time around the sun, their layered construction, and a series of philosophical world views.

Format4 turns the iPhone camera into an optical sound device that plays the 81 spheres sampled from the installation, as a cosmic choir.
